If you were asleep at the handlebars when Eric Wever of Pisgah Productions opened registration for the Pisgah Mountain Bike Adventure Race last month, you lost out.

The uber-popular race now in its 12th year, on May 3, sold out all 200 slots in four hours, Wever said. But never fear, he’s got a lot more events coming up this racing season:Pisgah Enduro 410web

Registration is open for Pisgah Productions mountain biking events – and one new trail running race – starting this May.

The 12th annual Pisgah Mountain Bike Adventure Race on May 3 has already sold out. In the race, teams of two riders race to reach four out of five checkpoints, in any order, and return to the start/finish on U.S. 276 near the Davidson River Campground.

However, the inaugural Pisgah Running Adventure Race on May 4 still has open slots. In the same design, teams of two runners, who must stay together, race to reach four out of six checkpoints, with no suggested route. Routes will vary, with approximately 25 miles to finish. Entry fee is $60 per team.

Following are the other mountain bike races:

  • May 17. The third annual Pisgah 111K Mountain Bike Race. This is 70 miles of endurance mountain bike racing on a marked course with four rest areas. All races have rest areas fully stocked with food, water, first aid, and mechanical support staff.
  • May 18. The second annual Pisgah 55.5K Mountain Bike Race. A nearly 100 percent singletrack course, completely marked, with three rest areas.
  • Sept 13. The third annual Pisgah Monster Cross Challenge. This 70-mile race has 11,000 feet of climbing on gravel and the Blue Ridge Parkway. There will be three rest areas.
